The half-hour animated show was produced by Theodor Geisel and Chuck Jones, directed by the latter, and based on the wonderful book of the same title by Dr. ![]() This photostatic model sheet titled "'Horton" was made at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio during production of the animated television special, and it was issued to animators for use in drawing Horton, the title character. Model sheets were made when a character or setting was in development and to help animators maintain a consistent look to the character throughout the film. Before the 1970s they were generally reproduced by a photostatic, photographic, or printing process. Ļeginning in the early 1930s The Walt Disney Studios introduced the model sheet to animated filmmaking, and other studios quickly adopted this device for circulating images of its animated characters and/or atmosphere and concept art among artists and animators working in production of a film. photostat on paper, dimensions: 14.5" x 17" Original production animation model sheet ![]()
